We just call it the freezer, but deep freeze seems more impenetrable. Some things are really old, but to let go of them is to admit defeat. Too solid to contemplate consuming; dense unlabelled soup bricks, things with bones, foraged oddities.
The components which can be defrosted are the simpler things. Those you know how to use, how to bring pleasure to a pot. Brightening the bulk, sprinkling emotions.
