You don’t really cook though! You prepare, ferment… sometimes forage... Assemble my Girl Dinner?! i scoff i have to explain the trend... i do cook though! you have seen the soups in the pan, the fridge stuffed full with more bits and bobs than just Your beers and my jars of ferments there have been soups I have prepped with you in mind but… well...sometimes they were gone by the next time you came over i cook enough to know you don’t like aubergine or mushrooms played it safe when I went wild you describe my style as Eclectic i’d describe it as chaotic a tuesday: hogweed fritters/blue corn tortillas/guac Were there other things I should have given? i cooked you toad in the hole with mustard and in coming weeks put all sorts in the hole remember you bought me dijon mustard one day? a brighter beige than the remnants of the last jar Tired. don’t you consider fermenting and preparing food ‘cooking’? i bet in a restaurant it is?! he doesn’t realise that all the times we casually go out to eat that I am performing another type of recipe, a dance of refusal this performance has been slow to evolve, it is now year five a sauce quietly bubbling, thickening but the work is not yet done it never is, it simmers salty forever
